Bellville
Bellville, about 25 km from Cape Town’s city centre, began as a rural rest stop known as “12 Myl Post” along the old wagon route to Stellenbosch. Officially established as a village in 1861 and named after Charles Davidson Bell, the town grew rapidly with the arrival of the railway, early industry, and later major residential and industrial development. Today, Bellville is one of Cape Town’s key urban and commercial centres, made up of numerous suburbs and supported by strong transport links, schools, businesses, and recreational facilities. Visitors and residents can enjoy green spaces like Jack Muller Park, and sports facilities.
