Glentana is a coastal village on the Garden Route in the Western Cape, about 15 km east of George and 5 km west of Herolds Bay. It lies along the R102 and the N2, bordered by the Indian Ocean to the south and farmland to the north. The village forms part of the George municipal area and offers access to nearby beaches, walking routes, holiday accommodation and local amenities.

History of Glentana

Glentana is a small village on the Indian Ocean coastline just southwest of George. It was established in the early 1900s when the first houses were built. It is thought to be named after a whiskey distilled in Northern Scotland. The wreck of the steamer ship the Baralong, which ran aground during a towing operation in 1902, sits today off the coast. It is a 123m floating dock weighing 4500 tons.
