boggomsbaai

Boggomsbaai is a small coastal village on the Garden Route in the Western Cape. It lies between Mossel Bay and Gouritsmond, just south of the N2, and about 40 km south-west of Mossel Bay. The village sits along a rugged stretch of coastline east of Vleesbaai and west of Gouritsmond, with access via a short gravel road off the main highway, contributing to its quiet and isolated character.

History of Boggomsbaai

Boggomsbaai can be said to be the cradle of human civilisation, situated on a stretch of coast where there is evidence of our earliest modern human ancestors. There is evidence of fire being used, and rock paintings dating back 71000 years can be found.
Today, the village is quiet and relaxed, and locals take conservation seriously. Indigenous plants and trees, as well as the little buck, hares, owls, tortoises, and francolins who share the area with people, are protected. The speed limit is 40km per hour, and all outside lights are switched off at night.

The postal code for Boggomsbaai is 6511
