Higgovale is a suburb of Cape Town located on the lower slopes of Table Mountain above the City Bowl. It lies south of Gardens, east of Clifton, and north of Camps Bay. The suburb is positioned between the city centre and the Atlantic coastline, providing easy access to mountain routes, beaches, and central Cape Town.

History of Higgovale

The history of the suburb dates back to the early 19th century, when it was part of a larger farm owned by Christoffel Higo, after whom the suburb is named. Over time, the area was subdivided and developed into a residential neighbourhood on the upper slopes of the mountain with narrow, steep streets. Due to its prime location and proximity to both the city centre and the natural beauty of Table Mountain, Higgovale became a desirable area for wealthy residents.

Higgovale has long been considered one of Cape Town’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, attracting local and international buyers who seek luxury properties and an exclusive, private lifestyle.
