The Franschhoek Wine Valley lies in a mountain-surrounded valley in the Cape Winelands and is one of South Africa’s best-known wine-producing regions, with 50 farms and estates in the list below. The area has a long winemaking history dating back to the arrival of French Huguenot settlers in the late 1600s. A combination of fertile soils, a Mediterranean climate and mountain influences creates favourable conditions for growing a variety of grape cultivars. The valley is known for producing both still and sparkling wines and is home to numerous wine estates, tasting rooms and cellar experiences.
