Known affectionately as the “flower of the West Coast, Darling forms part of the West Coast Biosphere Reserve.   • The Darling info centre/museum in the old town hall is open 7 days a week and has an interesting display of old agricultural implements, including a wheat carbine. At the museum, ask the curator to show you the fascinating antique photographic glass slide collection.
  • There are four  wine farms on the Darling wine route (Cloof, Darling Cellars, Groote Post and Ormonde Vineyards), with only one – Groote Post is open on  Sundays    Darling museum

  • Darling Stagger This 2.5-day, 25km trail that begins in Darling is a slow-paced, mouth-watering hiking trail from the hills of Darling through wine and olive farms to !Khwa ttu San Cultural Centre and down to Yzerfontein on the coast.
  • There is an operational wind farm.

  • The Hildebrand monument. Field Cornet C.P. Hildebrand of the Maritz Commando marched south with 150 men to Hopefield and Darling, occupying Hopefield and confiscating horses and supplies in Darling while releasing the only prisoner. At the same time, a British force of about 500 reached Kalbaskraal station and advanced toward Darling. In the skirmish that followed, Hildebrand was mortally wounded and buried temporarily at the scene; months later an official funeral was held, and a marble tombstone was erected on his grave bearing an inscription recording his death on 12 November 1901
  • The Signal cannon was first mounted on Klipberg in 1734, in front of the municipal offices. Originally used to notify farmers of the arrival of ships visiting the Cape so that produce could be taken to market.
