Below are some practical rules for public swimming pools facilities

  • Always listen to lifeguards and City staff on duty; they’re there to keep everyone safe.
  • If you or someone with you can’t swim or isn’t confident in the water, let the lifeguards know.
  • The baby pool is strictly for children under seven; older children must use the main pool.
  • Children under seven visiting swimming pools in Cape Town must always be accompanied and closely supervised by an adult.
  • Wear a proper swimming costume — regular swimwear only.
  • No balls, frisbees, inflatable tubes, or diving gear.
  • No glass bottles, jars or containers anywhere near the pool.
  • Pets and animals are not allowed in the pool area.
  • No loud music
  • No cooking or food preparation within the grounds
  • No running, pushing, dunking, shouting or any rough play.
  • Stay away from diving boards until it’s your turn — only one person may use them at a time.
  • No tents and large gazebos, but an umbrella is, however, allowed
  • Weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited.
  • Do not enter the water if you feel unwell
