The wreck of the Meisho Maru 38 : The vessel was a small Japanese fishing boat, built in 1848, has been lying in the shallow water near Cape Agulhas Lighthouse since it ran aground during a storm in 1982. The accident happened close to shore and all 17 crew members managed to swim to safety. The surviving shell of the doomed vessel is rusting as it is constantly battered by wind and waves. The boat was intact till fairly recently when it split in two.
