The Meadowridge Common
The Meadowridge Common is an area of about eight hectares. The common has a lot of indigenous endangered fynbos and the City oversees the preservation of some critically endangered species from the Cape Flats Sand Fynbos vegetation. There are many small reptiles, amphibians and birds in the area. The endangered Cape Rain Frog has also been seen here. Unfortunately, the alien invading vegetation makes preservation challenging.
The Western Cape is home to hundreds of bird species. For full identification and seasonal details, see this comprehensive Western Cape bird guide.
