The De Wetshuis Photo Museum
At The De Wetshuis Photo Museum, there is a collection of black and white photos and furniture from the booming fishing days of Hermanus. It is housed in a historic schoolhouse. The building was originally the Dutch Reformed Church Sunday School building. It was dismantled piece by piece, numbered, and transported to its present site in 1983. The reconstruction was completed by 1987.
The photos cover the history of the old harbour as far back as 1875. Transport is represented in pictures, including the hard-rim wheeled buses that travelled from Hermanus to Bot Rivier. There are pictures of old Hermanus, fashion, and bathing suits in times gone by. Tea gardens, Hotels, and Fishing are other pictures that are featured.
