Museum in Swellendam

The Drostdy Museum was built in 1747 by the Dutch East India Company, the Drostdy served as the official residence and seat of the magistrate of Swellendam. It was the most important building in town for years. It is a gorgeous example of Cape Dutch, minus its original façade gable.  it has also served as a gaol, a house for the secretary, and a mill. Over the years various outbuildings were erected.
