Robberg 5 Beach

Beach in Plettenberg Bay

Robberg 5 Beach has Blue Flag status. This beach is Plettenberg Bay’s signature beach, stretching four kilometres from the Beacon Isle Hotel to the magnificent Robberg Peninsula. This sandy stretch is great for long walks. There is loads of space for playing beach games. The beach is popular for surfing, hydrofoiling, stand-up paddling, snorkelling, and SCUBA diving. From July to December, whales can be seen as they swim past.

There are restaurants and cocktail bars close by, and there are loads of parking spaces along the beach. There are clean ablutions, and lifeguards are on duty full-time during peak season.

A few walking and hiking routes are nearby, some short and easy and some longer and more difficult.

Shells can often be found on this beach, especially after winter storms and low tide. If you plan to collect shells, please follow local regulations and take only empty shells. Shell identification guide
