Platbank beach (also called Groenvlei)
This long stretch of beautiful unspoiled beach with kilometers of soft white sand and amazingly weathered sandstone cliffs and fynbos. It falls within the Goukamma Reserve. You can take some very long walks here.
From the parking area, you can walk towards Sedgefield’s Myoli Beach or east towards Knysna. You can even walk all the way to Buffalo Bay. However, this is quite a long walk. It is better to do this walk at low tide or you could find yourself stranded. This is also a great shore fishing spot, but no bait or oyster collection is allowed.
Shells can often be found on this beach, especially after winter storms and low tide. If you plan to collect shells, please follow local regulations and take only empty shells. Shell identification guide
There is a small car park above the beach with a short boardwalk down to the beach.
