Melkbosstrand beach
Melkbosstrand Beach is the first beach officially noted as the “West Coast” just after West Beach and Tableview. There are great views of Table Mountain and Robben Island. The beach has Blue flag status. Facilities include toilets and there is loads of parking.
The powdery white sand stretches for 7 kilometres. The beach offers great surfing opportunities and it is safe for swimming.
There are lifeguards during the season. Dogs are allowed as long as they are kept on leashes.
Shells can often be found on this beach, especially after winter storms and low tide. If you plan to collect shells, please follow local regulations and take only empty shells. Shell identification guide
There are great restaurants and coffee shops within comfortable walking distance. Fishing here is good, and there is a slipway for launching your boat. You can have a great sunrise or sunset trip from Melkbos.
