Melkbaai beach
Melkbaai beach is safe for swimming. The water is shallow for a long way out, so it is safe for children. There is also a tidal pool. Lifeguards are on duty during peak times. Hobycats and surf ski paddles launch from this beach. Kitesurfing is good here. The area that surfers call” Pipe” is at the west end of the beach near the river. The beach is great for long, relaxing walks. There is ample parking, and ablution facilities are available.
Shells can often be found on this beach, especially after winter storms and low tide. If you plan to collect shells, please follow local regulations and take only empty shells. Shell identification guide
