Kleinmond beach
Kleinmond Beach is an unspoiled Blue Flag beach at the mouth of the Kleinmond Lagoon near Hermanus. The beach is wide and there are excellent walking, jogging opportunities, along with great conditions for water sports.
During the winter months from June to November, whales can be spotted from the beach. The Kleinmond Lagoon on the Palmiet River just before it reaches the sea, is great for children. Playing and paddling can be enjoyed in the safe waters. The lagoon is also popular for canoeing. The beach is wheelchair accessible. Lifeguards are on duty from December to March
Anglers come to Kleinmond in June for the snoek, which is caught at the harbour. For beach fishing, from the rocks along the shoreline at Sandown Bay, you may get the odd galjoen in season. You could also find sharks (vaalies) about 1km down the Main Beach, but you will need a very good cast for these. The rocks in front of Main Beach are good for galjoen; further along, you may catch streenbras and cob/kabeljou. In November. Cape salmon can be caught from the beach. Shells can often be found on this beach, especially after winter storms and low tide. If you plan to collect shells, please follow local regulations and take only empty shells. Shell identification guide
