Edith Stephens Nature Reserve
The Edith Stephens Nature Reserve, covering 39 hectares, protects and conserves local flora and fauna.
The park consists of a large seasonal wetland, with surrounding stretches of Cape Flats Sand Fynbos and Cape Flats Dune Strandveld vegetation. It is also the only known location for the ancient aquatic plant Isoetes capensis, which is found nowhere else on earth.
The reserve supports amphibians like the endangered western leopard toad, reptiles, Cape clawless otters, and a variety of waterbirds such as Cape shoveller and African snipe
