Critically Endangered Swartland Silcrete Renosterveld is conserved at this reserve. Many threatened plant species occur on this 3,2 ha site.
While the reserve is small it is extremely species-rich. 106 species have been identified with 14 being listed as threatened. 38 bird species have been recorded by the Tygerberg Bird Club through bird ringing
A few reptile species have also been recorded on the site includeing the Parrotbeaked Tortoise and Common Slug-eater.
