Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve
. Our nature reserves protect and conserve our city’s natural areas and biodiversity heritage, Zandvlei Estuary Nature Reserve is within walking distance of Steenberg and Lakeside Stations. The reserve has an Environmental Education Centre that offers various programmes for learners.
The reserve has a jetty, bird hides and picnics sites, and offers the opportunity for activities such as boating, walking and windsurfing.

There is an 11-circuit, Chartres replica of 40 metres diameter labyrinth on the island (Park Island) in the Zandvlei estuary. It was created in the naturally sloping “amphitheatre where there are great views of the estuary and views towards the back of Table Mountain. The path is lined with Cape Dune Strandveld vegetation which is endemic to the area. The area is open every day year-round via the gate at the end of Park island way. more info
