Yzerfontein 16 mile beach
Yzerfontein is a popular destination for a weekend of beach-going. The 16 miles of beach stretch from just north of the beginning of the main beach all the way up to the West Coast National Park which is perfect for a very long walk. It is the longest uninterrupted stretch of beach on the South African coastline.
It is well-loved by surfers. The exposed beach breaks to the left, the right, and the reef; these breaks are reliable all year round. The waves are better for  Advanced surfers
Yzerfontein can get a bit crowded when the waves are good.
The small craft harbour allows the launching of boats and jet skis in restricted areas, while the wide shallow bay is popular with bodyboarders, kite surfers and windsurfers – weather conditions are ideal for water sports throughout the year.
Shells can often be found on this beach, especially after winter storms and low tide. If you plan to collect shells, please follow local regulations and take only empty shells. Shell identification guide
