Victoria Bay Beach
The beach lies in a steep-sided valley opening onto a sheltered cove. The surrounding hills protect from strong winds, creating calmer swimming conditions than many open Garden Route beaches
. You can teach children to swim in the sheltered waters here. or in the tidal pool. The shape of the headland around the cove protects the water from dangerous tidal currents. It is one of the safest places to swim in the Western Cape. The tidal pools behind the jetty are great for children to explore. On some days there is good visibility for snorkelling around the rocks
Surfing
The beach also has a consistent right-point break that runs for about 300 meters and works best on a south-westerly swell. into shore. Paddle out past the sheltered cove to reach the best waves. long rides are possible, but beware of rip currents that are possible outside the cove
The beach is small and sandy, the tidal variation is very noticeable because of the enclosed bay, and there are lifeguards on duty in season

It is also a great spot for seeing dolphins and whales, which often venture quite close to the shore. Southern Right whales are regular visitors between June and November, and  Humpback whales can be seen between May and December. It is a great family beach where there are rock pools to explore, a braai area, and a small café close by. The beach is accessed by a narrow road.
Shells can often be found on this beach, especially after winter storms and low tide. If you plan to collect shells, please follow local regulations and take only empty shells. Shell identification guide
