Lookout Beach
This beach is about a kilometre from Plettenberg Bay town centre. It is a great all-around beach with something for everyone.
The clean white sand is wide, so there is space to avoid a feeling of being crowded. Although season (Christmas time gets quite busy). The warm Indian Ocean waters of Lookout Beach make swimming and water sport really enjoyable.
The beach has Blue Flag status for its water quality. It is popular with surfers for its consistent waves. Many kite-surfers and stand-up paddleboarders head for Lookout beach.
Humpback, southern right, and sometimes even killer whales have been seen in the waters off the beach in the later months of the year. Dolphins can be seen from the beach throughout the year.
Shells can often be found on this beach, especially after winter storms and low tide. If you plan to collect shells, please follow local regulations and take only empty shells. Shell identification guide
Lifeguards are on duty in season. Public toilets are available. The beach has wheelchair access, but there is limited parking.
