Kogel Bay Beach
Kogel Bay beach translates to Cannonball Bay beach; this is assumed to refer to the cannonball-shaped rocks on the beach. It is on a beautiful part of the coast backed by mountains. The stretch of the coastline is divided into 3 beaches, where you can swim or enjoy watersports. The surfing here is good, particularly in the area known as Dappat se gat. Beware, however, of strong rip currents. Lifeguards are on duty at Kogel Bay Beach during peak season only. Caves can be explored at the northern end of the beach, and the Southern end is the beginning of the Klipspringer trail. Whales make their appearance here during the winter months.
Shells can often be found on this beach, especially after winter storms and low tide. If you plan to collect shells, please follow local regulations and take only empty shells. Shell identification guide
