Jubilee creek nature reserve
Jubilee Creek is a great picnic spot. You can sit on the edge of a stream on green grass in a clearing. Children can play in the stream, so take swimwear with you. They can hop on the stones and walk up and down the water’s edge. Tall trees provide lots of shade. There are many photo opportunities with animals and birds to see.
The Western Cape is home to hundreds of bird species. For full identification and seasonal details, see this comprehensive Western Cape bird guide.
You could also take in the Jubilee Creek walk to a waterfall and swimming hole. 3km there and back.
The water in the streams is drinkable, the dark colour is due to the tannins and humic acids from the leaves on the forest floor.
Facilities include Wooden tables and benches, braai facilities, water, and bush toilets.
