Glen Beach
On the Atlantic side of the peninsula is Glen Beach. Just below the expensive residential suburb of Camps Bay, surfers make use of these beach breaks. The sand is white and clean, but the water is very cold. Glen Beach is separated from the main Camps Bay Beach by a rocky outcrop, which during summer is covered with sand, thus creating a single stretch of beach. Glen Beach is backed by Lion’s Head and Twelve Apostles Mountains.
While this beach is popular with surfers at an intermediate level, it is not a great swimming area. Â Remember to watch out for strong rip currents and rocks.
Shells can often be found on this beach, especially after winter storms and low tide. If you plan to collect shells, please follow local regulations and take only empty shells. Shell identification guide
