Surf beach in Kommetjie

Crayfish factory Kommetjie: Some of the most spectacular waves can be found here. These are created by the north or north-easterly wind ( generally during the winter months). The waves are sometimes rough, and it’s quite rocky, so as a beginner, this will not be the best site. Waves can reach up to 15 feet. Winter is the best time for surfing at Crayfish. This beach has waves for pro surfers and is not usually very crowded.

Shells can often be found on this beach, especially after winter storms and low tide. If you plan to collect shells, please follow local regulations and take only empty shells. Shell identification guide

The beach is about an hour’s drive from Cape Town city and is about 10 minutes away from Kommetjie or Scarborough.
