Beach on the Langebaan lagoon

Calypso Beach in Langebaan is one of the last breeding areas of the black oystercatcher. This is an endangered bird. The West-facing beach is on Langebaan Lagoon and has some windless zones neatly tucked away from the South Easter. and it has warm water with no currents. There are small waves that are perfect for swimming and bodysurfing. Occasionally, conditions are good for surfing when a large winter swell wraps through the lagoon’s mouth. The beach is private with easy access.

Shells can often be found on this beach, especially after winter storms and low tide. If you plan to collect shells, please follow local regulations and take only empty shells. Shell identification guide
