AKTV Heated Pool Hartenbos‘ indoor pool is heated and is open year-round. The pools are closed for a short time every two hours for cleaning. Athlone public swimming pool

Bath of Bethesda Robben island

The Bath of Bethesda tidal pool was built in 1845 on Robben Island when it was a leper colony. It was considered to be therapeutic for leprosy victims. This pool can still be seen today.

Beaverlac campsite is where you can come and fly the skies where black eagles soar, hike the paths of the leopard, climb the rocks where baboons play and spend some time at a rock pool each day. There are various hiking trails and caves, some of which are decorated with rock art dating back thousands of years. Tucked high up in the Olifants River Mountains above Porterville, Beaverlac offers camping and cabins to maximize your enjoyment of nature. Situated in a secluded 5000-hectare valley surrounded by mountains, Beaverlac is blessed with two rivers, the Ratel (Honey Badger) and the Olifants. The rustic and tranquil campsite surrounded by wild mountains offers peace and quiet and a beautiful mountain pool with a waterfall is a 5-minute walk away. Those who don’t want to camp can book one of our cottages. Dogs are allowed in the campsite, but not in the rock pools where people are swimming. The site is not open to day visitors. Blougat tidal pool

The Blougat tidal pool on the point in Mossel Bay is set within rows of rocky reefs, which form a natural tidal pool. For many years, local children have learned to swim in this pool. Chains and ropes have been secured across the pool to help swimmers if surging tides cause strong currents. The pool has a smooth sandy bottom and the Indian Ocean water is mild enough for almost year-round bathing. At high tide, It is deep enough for diving.
